I have finally asked my t to work with me on my SI (I really REALLY need to stop) and she is beginning CBT with me. I have read a bit about this here (well, in the psycotherapy forum I think, but here at PC anyway) and I am wondering if anyone HERE (!!) has used it for their SI behaviours, and if so was it successful? How many sessions did it take (I imagine it will be ongoing but she has committed the next 6 sessions to it)? Any info/feedback +ve or -ve greatly appreciated thanks

I've used CBT to help me stop drinking and when I was in the hospital they used a lot of CBT generally around coping and stopping self injury.
It's hard work, but once you get used to the concepts it can be really helpful. If you want a good book - try Mind over Mood. I forget the author. Good luck. --splitimage |

![]() next time I'm at the library I'll look up the book. I've had enough- so anything, no matter how much hard work it is- will be good.
