3 weeks tomorrow, since i've relapsed. this is the longest i've gone in over a year without cutting. It's so hard though, i have to keep myself away from anything sharp, the temptation is so strong still... i even find it hard to use a pencil in class(summer school)
i promised my guy friend that i would try my hardest to stop, and i will never lie to him, or break my word...
it's weird, we're both in love with each other, but we're not together. and all these girls are always jumping all over him, and guys me, i wish life weren't so messed up. people hurt others for no reason at all.

BOTTOM LINE IS: Does the temptation to cut ever lessen? I don't know how much longer I can handle this.

That's wonderful you've gone a while without cutting. I'm working on two days, which isn't much.

I used to cut real bad about two/three years ago, when I finally stopped I had temptations for a month or two but they lessend.

Keep it up, you're doing great!

Yes....the lonnger you stay away from any addiction, the easier it will eventually get. The urges will be less frequent, and less strong. It will take time for you to notice this change, but it WILL happen. I promise.

Congratulations on taking control of your body and your life! 3 weeks

Congratulations on three weeks. It is hard to change coping skills especially from one that is addicting too. It sounds like you may have some strong emotions going on for you which may be making things somewhat difficult to cope. Over time and as you use other ways to cope the temptation does seem to subside. Please give yourself some time.

Yes, they start lessening in frequency and the more you resist the easier it becomes to fight them. Congratulations on three weeks. That really is an amazing accomplishment. Hang in there. I know how difficult it feels right now.
