I figured instead of just using this area when i do bad at the cutting thing, I would type when I am doing good. sooooooooo.. Everyone feel free to jump in and talk about success of not cutting.. or just alternative that worked well...
For me.. it was talking to my therapist about the core issues behind it that helped..as well as just connecting more with God.

Best of Luck all!

That is WONDERFUL news! Thanks for sharing it. Momentarily, my urges are quelched too. Actually, for a few days, even though I've had some bad stressful moments, I've pulled through them. I'm amazed.

Take Care of yourself
And keep on keepin' on!

That's cool esther that you managed to pull through without cutting! The same goes to you too, ktp! Good on you both! I haven't cut in a while :)

Alright, EV! Congratulations on working things out instead of cutting I haven't cut in a while :)

2 weeks for me! And I'm going to make it MUCH longer!

I think my T is starting to get through to me that I need and deserve to be protected from the hurting. That is helping me.

I haven't cut in a while :) Yay! I haven't cut in a while :) And I think that it's a good idea to post when you are feeling/doing well. That way we get a little more positive on the site (not that there's anything wrong with people talking about when they feel bad, just that I REALLY like to hear about how people are doing better.) I think it gives all of us here a little bit more hope! I haven't cut in a while :) I haven't cut in a while :)

Thanks Silver...

I am happy about it, too! I just hope it lasts. For all of us.

I agree.. I mean. I want to know others are doing well. Doing well should get attention as well as not doing well. Both states require friendship, support , and love.

I think I haven't done it since May. I made a committment to myself in a blind trust sort of way that this is not good for me and I won't do it. Urges are there but then I remember I am supposed to be taking care of myself. I am trying to take care of myself.

Is it Wednesday today? 4 weeks then for me (I think - or is it 3? I think it's 4). That's the longest in several months anyway. Why? Actually, I think it's because the hibernation season has started, and I have gotten numb. And I'm wondering how much St. John's Wort it would take to get out of hibernation mode when it's the middle of winter... I'm sorry - that's not much of a success story, really, is it?

Congratulations to all of you who are doing well!

That is really impressive! Especially that you are able to hear all our stories here, and mine chatting over MSN and still be able to hang in there. Way cool I haven't cut in a while :)

You know what? We totally rock! I haven't cut in a while :)

Way to go to everyone who even makes it through one urge without acting on it. I am new here and I am enjoying being able to touch and be touched by everyones' candid desire to share and help. I have been self harm free for 2 and 1 half years now. I would like to say to those who fear the urge will never go away and those who feel like a failure when they have gone a certain amount of time without and then act on it that with time the urge can become less invasive and even disappear. I think for me the most important factors where learning all the coping skills and having people around that would always love me even if I cut. Keep up the awesome work.

Hmm So far has only been 3 days but the urge has been strong so I am glad to have gone this long. I hate having to start over - but better to start stopping again than to just continue self destructing. Possibly having an ugly cold is helping to slow me down some too. Sort of hard to act on my self hatred when my throat is raw and body is achey from coughing so hard.

esthervirtue,

This is a fabulous idea! I don't cut but I know many who do and how hard it is to see the positives when they are not cutting.

I'm glad it has been a while (forgive me as I haven't read thread so I'm responding to your first post in thread) and I offer encouragement to continue on with the things that are helping you to remain free from cutting.

My support to all in learning way of lessening and stopping.

Kudos to all for each and every day that is SI free. I'm proud to know people who struggle with something so difficult and overcome so much...........and this lesson is one that takes repetition for most unfortunately I haven't cut in a while :) but that is why this type of support exists.

Thanks for a great idea esthervirtue.

I'm sure its been a week at least! Yahooooooooo! And yesterday....I went to the mall and bought me one of those rain thingys that look like rain is pouring down and with the gentle soothing music. I love it! I am going to try to use it to calm myself after work. One bad habit down... 2 to go.. I haven't cut in a while :)
