I knew there must be a place for seniors on PC. I'm getting depressed about growing older and mortality. I don't have parents or aunts and uncles, and lost my husband last year. I do have kids and grandkids.
There's so much I want to do but I get tired quicker so I get frustrated. My therapist and I started talking about the fact that we can't go backwards. She's over 50 but I'm older. I don't want to think about the future but it's going to be here sooner than I think! Where did the years go? How do you cope?

i cope by living in the present. there are many ways to loose your health and functions besides getting older. you can do things to stay flexible and strong, and in good health: eat right, keep moving, stretch and bend. most of all,, think about what you DO have, an stop focusing on what's leaving.

the brain has a way of magnifying what it's focused on,, so Focus on the Positive~!

best wishes~ and welcome to the Lounge~!

Hi rainbow8: The Skeezyks is 68! I can certainly relate to what you said about getting tired more easily. It seems like I'm just tired all the time! Personally, I just keep doing what needs to be done & I figure the future will take care of itself. I'm married. But I have no other family & I live a pretty-much solitary life. It suits me...
Thanks for this!

Thank you, Gus. I do yoga, swim, and paint. My T suggests meditate daily but I keep forgetting. She's a proponent of living in the present and thinking positive. I've been a worrier and negative thinker my whole life and hard to change. The breathing and relaxation of yoga help me though. Swimming relaxes me too. I have a lot I want to do and feel pressured, not by anyone else, just myself.

Thanks, Skeezyks. I'm 67! I want to get the house decluttered, paint, swim, and do so much more. I do those things, but getting the house in order is overwhelming. I don't know what to do first, or how to set priorities in my life.
Thanks for this!

i am doing better at walking around tho,,, so there's hope~

I think if you have anyone to help you get your things in storage or sold in a yard sale, let your family member pack up all the cluttering stuff, plus recycle unneeded paper, cans, bottles, etc. When you return to your house/apartment, everything should be in boxes. Since you don't know where your favorite things are, it is easy to let movers take it all away and you can go to your storage space to look for anything you still need. I hope it will be easier for you.
