I missed the % of disposable income Q

That was fun, thanks.

I’d forgotten about talking to the operator.

33 out of 35. One I missed was the question about the refrigerator. I chose Frigidaire rather than ice box. I was familiar with the term "ice box". But I thought that might be too old for most boomers to be familiar with. It was in common usage in my family. But I grew up as an only child in a very elderly extended family. Most of the relatives I grew up with had been born in the late 19th century. So of course in our family the refrigerator was referred to as the ice box. I don't remember what other question I missed (senior dementia...)

I was telling my daughter about operators and how you could calll someone collect if they would accept the charges.

I remember moving away and being unable to talk to my friends because long distance was too expensive.

A local radio station put out a challenge for callers to find a pay phone in the city and call in for a prize. They were surprised there were any left. One caller found one at a gas station, and another at a park and ride for our bus system.

I was surprised there were any too.
Thanks for this!

even tho i was born in the early 50's, i grew up in a time warp in rural western colorado. no running water, no indoor plumbing, no radio, no tv; eat out of the garden and off of a gun or hook. swim naked all summer and walk barefoot in the snow. it was a different time, but as children we didn't know enough to want more. i miss that.

I know what you mean. I was born in the late 1950's in rural Minnesota. We had running water and indoor toilets but just. We were behind most of the USA and didn't know to miss what we didn't have.

Yes, you bet: "...didn't know enough to want more...didn't know to miss what we didn't have."

Children today have more thrown at them than they can ever possibly handle and very few will ever learn to discern and cling to only what they actually need.
