I'm kind of reluctant to ask this question, but I'm going to anyway. Please don't judge me. Can someone masturbate too much? I think I may masturbate more than normal. But what is normal once a day, 2x a day?? Sometimes I will masturbate like 15x a day. Usually it's like 8-10x though. The reason why I am bringing this up is because it has been impacting my life. I don't have interest in anything accept sex and/or masturbation. If I can't have the real thing, I will resort to self-stimulation. Does anyone else deal with this same issue? I may bring this up in therapy, which I have in a few hrs, but like with the issue of fantasizing about him, I don't want to bring this up either. Help.

HI CherryDropz88 - in my opinion this is excessive. As you said this is impacting your life in a negative way and this is a good indicator, it's reached an unhealthy level. Masturbation in itself is normal and fine. I don't think you should feel embarrassed - you could be addicted or I saw once on Oprah, there's a condition where a woman can be super sensitive to stimulation - where she must relieve herself. You said you fantasize about your therapist - has this increase started recently along with feelings for your therapist or have you been like this for a while?

I've had feelings for my therapist for several (about 7) months. I've always been one to masturbate more frequently but just this past month I've been doing this excessively. I think it's because I'm not with a man, eh I thought I was (read the crime and passion thread in the relationships forum) and since I can't see him I masturbate to get those feelings of pleasure. And since I know logically i cannot sleep with my therapist, although would love to, I fantasize about him while masturbating.

There's a forum here called 'Romantic Feelings For My Therapist' in the Psychotherapy Forum here at PC. You can post there about your feelings for your therapist - this is called 'Erotic Transference'. Usually it's recommended to discuss these feelings and a good therapist will help the patient deal with these feelings. Having strong feelings can end up shadowing the reason a patient's in therapy. All therapists are familiar with transference. Unfortunately there are some unethical therapists/doctors who'll take advantage of a patient and no matter how strong your feelings are, it would be unwise to act on them IRL.

It sounds to me like you could have hypersexuality. The Discovery channel had a sexual health special that covered that.

Perna, thanks for that link. I could relate to that article. I am impulsive when it comes to sex. Never had an infection though, which I am tnankful for. Sometimes I wonder if I do need medication to tone down my sex drive. It's always been on the high side and I use to pride myself in thinking that I am blessed to have such a high sex drive. Now I'm not so sure...

I hope you can find the strength to bring this up with T and get his opinon on this.
The most I've ever masturbated was about 3 times a day - and i thought was a lot. I hardly masturbate now, as I am in a relationship, and while we only make love about 2 times a week, it seems to satisfy me. Every now and again when i'm home alone, I may masturbate.

I saw a special on hyper-sexuality as well. There is a condition that was dubbed tourettes of the clitoris. Not sure what the real name for it was. Also, this is really common in people who are Bipolar. This one woman on it had to relieve herself a dozen times a day due to a constant arousal. Talk with your therapist or gyno about it.
