I just got my test result and that my Herpes type 1 is measured at 2.2 which is a positive.
May I ask, is herpes type 1 common and is it dangerous? They say it is transmitted via saliva or skin contact. I don't even know where I got my herpes from. What should I do about this? I'm worried sick trying to figure this out. I don't know if I could have a normal life again, sigh. Please advice, thanks. |

Not much you can do. Type 1 is what causes "cold sores". It's not dangerous. These days though, doctors don't usually differentiate between type 1 and type 2 because either type can show up in the genitals or mouth.
It will come and go and you might never have another outbreak in your life even though you can still be contagious. That's the thing about The Herpes, you may never know how you got it. Oral sex can transmit it to the nether regions. If a young lady with a cold sore gave you oral sex, you could have that on your genitals. I know a young lady who has a nasty case of Type 2 in her mouth because of oral sex. So overall, you can have a completely normal life as long as you take precautions and are honest with your sexual partners. |

So it won't be dangerous at all to my gf and maybe her future pregnancies? That is my main concern. I heard it doesn't only transmit through oral sex but through sharing of saliva and skin to skin contact.
And also, will it pose any dangers to my health etc? I'm still worried about this. |

Herpes can be very dangerous to an infant (according to WebMD...you should check them out), but that's if SHE gets it. Otherwise, it's fine.
Do be careful to avoid sexual contact while you're having an outbreak...that's about all I can offer, unfortunately. Herpes isn't something I'm incredibly well versed in. I would advise you talk to your doctor about how to practice safely. In the mean time, this might be of some help, but please don't let it scare you. The CDC tends to be rather...blunt. Thanks for the replies so far guys, I definitely got more knowledgeable about this now though I feel bad about having herpes, sigh. Don't even know how I got it in the first place.
Ya true, I've read a little. I just have to have intercourse after the outbreak is over. But I never had anything on my genitals so far, no sores there. But I realised that the smegma accumulates excessively at a daily affair. I had to wash it off every single day, is this normal? Like what I said, I like to keep.my hygiene. Or is it a yeast infection? Kindly advice thank you. |
