I've never really talked about the sexual aspect of my life on here before

I was raped at the age of 14 and after that the only time I felt 'valid' was when I was getting attention from men and then when I got a little older women too. I never had serious relationships, always ended them after a couple months, or they would walk away because I would be all over the place.

Last year I was in my first serious relationship and the sex was insane, it was the only really good thing about our relationship. He ended it after a year and I went right back to sleeping with random people, flirting, all the stuff I used to do.

Now I'm in a relationship, and have been for a while, and I intend to stick with it but... my libido is gone. I barely want to have sex with him and I don't know why. I like him and care about him so much. I'm just so confused as to where my sex drive went.

Your profile says that your 21. So, you're too young for menopause? Are you on any meds? Anything else especially anxiety-generating going on in your life? All of those things could wreak havoc on your libido.

Hypersexuality is often linked to bipolar disorder, which I have. I was hypersexual until I was 19, before I started experiencing periods of complete asexuality intermittently. I was also a victim of abuse, though I never considered it's affect on my sexuality tbh.

I'm bipolar as well. My therapist says that because of the abuse and the illness, my sexuality was directly affected. But periods of asexuality could be something I'm going through. Thanks

Maybe it's because the relationship became too comfortable and routine. The honeymoon phase wore off.

I definitely think if you have bipolar that that is the key ingredient. It messes so badly with oxytocin and the longer you are with somebody the less oxytocin you get from them. That means less hypersexuality until something happens to boost your oxytocin back up.
