As I made another thread about on here, I am a 25 year old virgin. Through my whole life, I've only ever masturbated by humping my bed or carpet, which I know isn't how most men do it. Just tonight I saw lots of people saying online that it causes ED so I'm a little worried about it.
I have a lot of trouble doing it on my back with just my hand. Some of it may be psychological, but some people say that masturbating prone desensitizes the penis as opposed to using your hand. In my case, when I've tried I actually find that I am gentler humping something than using my hand, so I don't think that's the issue for me. I have a much harder time fantasizing laying on my back for whatever reason, I think because it's easier when I can bury my face in a pillow as opposed to having to stare at the ceiling or force my eyes shut. I also don't have any trouble getting erections without touching, so ED isn't a problem at the moment. I think I've only ever orgasmed prone, though. A lot of the sites making a big deal out of this seemed pseudo-scientific. The Kinsey Institute and all the medical doctors commenting on it online didn't think it was a big deal. Nonetheless, there are lots of men saying that this has caused problems for them online. They may be a lot rougher than I am, and some of them talked about masturbating like 5 times a day which I don't do, so I could understand how that could desensitize the penis. Anyway, what do you think about this? The thing that concerns me is that I've never managed to orgasm any other way, so I hope that doesn't translate to regular sex. I hope I wasn't too graphic. |

Once again reading stuff on the internet is NOT the gospel truth!
Please stop comparing yourself to others that post crap out there especially about sex, unless it's proven in a scientific journal, study or you've talked to your physician. It's just too easy to believe what you read so please be skeptical. Sorry. Now when I started masturbating as a kid I only used prone position & I was hooked on it for over 20 yrs. After seeing porn lol, realized most other women were doing it differently. So I started to experiment & teach myself other positions. Some I liked, others I didn't. It took a long time to get comfortable & I certainly didn't view it as a negative. It's only positive. I think about all the other women out there that don't know they can do it prone...& I have an advantage! Use positive self Talk & build your confidence. You say you force yourself to close your eyes so you don't stare at the ceiling...yuck. That sounds boring! Can you use some positive self talk to make it sound more appealing, sexy & something you wanto explore? Add some excitement to it. Relax & enjoy getting to know your body & the sensations it can cause by changing things up ![]()

Fellow Norseman,
It's a real problem. Please give up prone forever and learn to masturbate the way men do. You'll be glad you did. When that's accomplished, it's time to start having sex. Please read these articles from professional and medical journals: Josie Lipsith, Damian McCann, & David Goldmeier, "Male Psychogenic Sexual Dysfunction: The Role of Masturbation," Sexual and Relationship Therapy, Vol. 18, Nov. 2003, pp. 447-471. Gila Bronner & Itzhak Ben-Zion, "Unusual Masturbatory Practice as an Etiological Factor in the Diagnosis and Treatment of Sexual Dysfunction in Young Men," The Journal of Sexual Medicine, Vol. 11, July 2014, pp. 1798-1806. This book might change your life: Eva Margolies, Undressing the American Male: Men with Sexual Problems and What You Can Do to Help Them. New York: Dutton, 1994. Patagonia: Some women can masturbate prone and be OK, but it causes devastating problems in males. |

Thank you so much for posting something concrete for this person. Yes, I don't know much about it for me & glad you found some great reading for him.

The way you describe it could hurt you. I read that it is more safe to do it while lying back. With time you will get used to it. Now you don't enjoy it because you are used to do another way.

I started doing prone masturbation in my adolescence. Maybe 15. I thought I as crazy or different so I never told anyone about it. I'm now over 30, Been alone my whole life. Quite doing PM and don't have sex because I mangled my penis to an extent it has droopy/excessive skin, Hurts near the tip & always uncomfortable.
I discovered what PM is because I found myself in a situation where I was going to be assaulted. I wasn't taking care of myself at the time so had to make a change a become healthy and strong. They also said I needed to get laid, as a burn on me. So, to try and fix myself I google humping the floor and found PM is common and I should go to the doctor about my mangled penis immediately. I haven't gone to doctor yet but am eager to find out what damage I've done to myself. But after 15 years of not doing anything I don't have much hope of being healthy, Physically or mentally. |

No, I just found out prone masterbation was a dysfunction few months ago. but I've been doing in for years.
But I've got more then just droppy skin, Its hard to describe but it starts at the bottom of my penis at the tip protrudes out where it looks like a small vain and runs down the bottom of the shaft where it Protrudes out even more to look like a mountain of skin, around that is loose and droopy. It's very ugly, uncomfortable and sore. I'm going to doctor soon about it, I'll let you know his diagnosis. Last edited by William Munny; Sep 03, 2017 at 09:17 AM. |
