This is great! I'm proud that you are on a mission to spread the good word. We need more good people in this world. You can make that happen.

The day our new president took office I hung a huge brand new rainbow flag high on the side of our house! When I'm in my kitchen I can see it & it gives me a nice feeling! (Although I fear it being ripped down)

When I hung it, I had to sit down with my 3 kids & explain things to them. Like what it means, why we fly it & how people might tease them or even accuse them or someone in our family of being "gay!" Kids love that word. But basically what this flag means to us all.
We had a great discussion about equality, labels, sexual orientation & especially slang words.
I love being so open with them about this subject & being proactive here. Knowledge is power & I wanto give them that!

I wish my parents did this for me.
Carry on!

Wow. Patagonia. You are an awesome parent. I wish all parents were like you. Spreading love and understanding to your kids is a unique quality.

Love is all that matters.

I grew up ignorant & full of shame when it came to sex. My mother told me the AIDS epidemic in the 1970's was the work of the devil....& many other horrible things.....
Anyway, I always vowed if I had kids that they would be the one the others wento on the playground! There's always that kid that knows a lot more & becomes the source of info for those in the dark.

I discuss sex with them a lot. The biological aspects of it using the correct terms, pictures & science info. (Nothing based on religion). We also discuss the latest slang words that pop up on social media or from their friends. Even in music. Sometimes I have to look stuff up too. I want them to know! So they have the facts & don't feel ignorant like I did for way too long.
My 12yo is finally starting to get comfortable asking questions. Nothing big, but something she overhears & might not understand she asks me about it.
I love that! Inside really I'm jumping up & down but I try to keep it casual & open.
I do hope it makes a difference in their life, how they view their bodies, sex, love & it helps make them more confident in themselves.
