I thought I would start a thread where people (including myself) could post their dreams, and get feedback and from other people as to what the dream means.
We can post our own dreams while at the same time helping people with theirs. Hope to get lots of posts! |

My nightmares ( the ones that bother me the most anyway ) usually involve me with my current family and my family of origin (including previous abusers) all in a house together with me - while the house is literally falling down around me. What distresses me the most is that no one else notices - and ignores all my efforts to shore things up. I have nightmares that are "scarier" and closer to flashbacks but for whatever reason - these other dreams bother me more for a longer period of time.

KDlady: Wow, you must have grown up in a chaotic household. Whatever was going on in your home in the past is obviously affecting you in the present. perhaps the abuse you went through was ignored by family members, and perhaps you felt as if your life, or your household was falling apart for that reason and other reasons. maybe divorce? perhaps these situations made you feel powerless because no one would help you, and/or ignored you. maybe now, you are trying to make an effort to "shore things up" in your past so that it does not effect your current family.
Or, maybe you feel as if your current household is falling apart, just like your last one, and there is nothing you can do about it. Dreams that are more like flashbacks are called post traumatic nightmares. they usually mimic a real life event but with slight changes. having these dreams after traumatic events is a way of coping with your distress. the changes in your dream are things to be interpreted. these dreams often lessen and cause less anxiety over time as the trauma becomes resolved. Thanx 4 being the 1st 2 post! ![]() |
