I don't know why I have them. But every time I go to sleep, if I dream at all, it's a nightmare. Every night I pray I don't dream.

It started soon after I was in a car accident a year and a half ago. I've tried a number of things. From thinking very good thoughts before bed to music while I sleep. I could have the best day ever and will still have a nightmare.

Is there anything else I can try to stop them?

I can only sympathize as I have nightmares every other night for no reason whatsoever. Hopefully this eases up for you.

Nightmares are awful things and I can understand you, as I have lots of nightmares.

Some reasons for nightmares

- Medications
- Hormones
- Eating soon b4 bed. Eating highly flavoured foods can do it.

If you are eating cheese or wine b4 bed then I would try and stop that.

Nightmares are often a reflection of what is going on in our subconscious. Try talking to a therapist if need be.

Take Care....

I was reading recently that having nightmares after car accidents like yours is a good thing; you mind is telling you your feelings are "right"; it IS scary to have had your accident.

Were I you I'd be "glad" and thank your dream/nightmare for confirming your feelings and sort of "accept" the nightmare and maybe you wouldn't need it anymore? Did you talk to anyone about your accident after it happened, work it through? Your insides are just trying to balance you, have to stay in balance and do whatever is necessary to get that way. If you have conscious trouble working on your experiences, your brain will compensate and you'll get nightmares to help support you. It's a good thing, even though it isn't fun (like taking bitter medicine).

I hear you-I have nightmares about 5 days out of 7. I usually remember most of my dreams.
They can definitely be vivid-and frightening!
Perna-great post! I liked to hear that!
