I am having trouble sleeping at night. I am taking medication. There is a lot of drama in my life right now. The short version is my 17 yr. old daughter is in juvenile det. and I miss her. It has been a rough 2 yrs. (she has not been in this whole time). The trouble started that long ago. I do have a wonderful husband and 2 wonderful boys who are very supportive of me, but I find myself not being there for them enough. I am sad and cry all the time.

Have a talk with your doctor about your medication. Your main problem might be too much work, and not enough relaxation befor bed time. The problem of getting up is probably caused by your medication. |

Hi Grumpy, welcome. I agree that difficulties sleeping, or becoming fully awake in the morning/day may be due to your medication. But you may also be suffering from a lack of energy due to the lack of sleep your experiencing, due to increased feelings of depression, or even due to a non-mental health problem. You could be a little hypoglycemic, or have a low grade infection somewhere in your body. I definitely recommend talking to your doctor about these symptoms so you can work together to find a solution. In the mean time, you might try to motivate yourself by giving yourself one thing to look forward to each day. Just simple things can make a difference: one day plan to enjoy a movie with your boys, the next plan to treat yourself to a bubble bath, etc. I hope you'll keep us updated on how you're doing!

ty for sharing this, grumpy.
I would imagine that dealing with what you are dealing with (daughter in det.) could really disturb your sleep. I relate to life dramas doing that. And i would imagine it being harder indeed to be there for anyone in a state like that, or being able to get up in the morning. I do function much better when I am sleeping better or when I am relaxed, not agitated. I don' t really have any answers for you, but I have tried a lot of things. Now I am trying to listen to relaxing music and consciously clear my mind of clutter around bedtime. It does help. Try to relax and tell yourself, "I am okay *right now*." I know it is hard. Billi
