I have been suffering from insomnia for the longest. I have just realized that I can't go to sleep until about five in the morning because that is when it is the coolest. (I live in Louisiana and we have high humidity). We have A/C's and fans going. I am going to darken all my windows to see if that will help.

I hate insomnia. I find it far easier to sleep during the day than at night. I feel like my t/pdoc would ask me what I am afraid of/anxious about at night.
So, aside from the heat (I live in Mississippi, so I know where you are coming from there!) is there anything that bothers you about night time?

I would venture to say I think it also has to do with our strange body clocks. Even in the winter, I could become nocturnal. I hate insomnia too. Sleep is something you take for granted....until you start having problems with it.
I have only recently had sleep problems...how about you guys? |

I used to work the night shift before finishing college. I can still be awake all day and not be able to sleep. I can sleep an hour or two and then I am awake. I just want to sleep for at least five hours straight. I am not asking for much.

I have worked shifts, nights, afternoons and mornings for a long time. My problem was the early morning shift, starting work at 6.00AM I felt tired the rest of the day. The worst problem is having meals at the wrong times. As Harriette mentioned, our body clock is set to daytime. However the subconscious compensates by making the best of the sleeptime you have. Some people need less sleep than others. Have a nap when you feel tired, or just close your eyes and relax. That helps me a lot. |
