I had a really weird dream last night.

I was in bed (asleep) and heard someone out my window. i had nets on my window so i looked up and saw a man staring back at me.

All of a sudden he smashed the window and came into the house.

I woke up (in real life) in a massive panic and was crying and trying to scream.

Am i just paranoid? or is this just a very common dream?

Thanks for any help!

Hi,
It was a waking nightmare. Sometimes you have to be woken from sleep for some reason and your subconscious uses your fears to wake you up.
It is difficult to say why you had to be woken. It could have been a sudden pain, asthma attack or a stream of bad thoughts intruding into your sleep.
Thanks for this!

This is what I think of as "night terrors". There is no reason, from what you say here, to feel paranoid. However, I know how terrifying it can be to see both the familiar waking and the intruding dream world coincide. Meds or coming off meds can cause this, as can, I am sure, many other things. But the dream itself is no reason to feel paranoid. If you have reality-based reasons for thinking you should tighten security, make sure the windows are locked and/or that you are in a safe place. Otherwise, I would not give it much thought.
