I have issues falling asleep at night. I used to take benadryl to sleep but my counselor suggest I stop doing that, so I have. When I first started Zoloft, it would make me really drowsy but now it doesn't. What are some techniques y'all use to fall asleep?
Oh, and the reason I said I am nocturnal is because I pretty much have been sleeping all day long during winter break. I think that has a lot to do with my depression though and not having the desire to do anything. |

Well.. my personal story is i am adhd/add and when i ended up taking meds for it, i ended up finding myself able to fall asleep no more then 10 min after my head hit that pillow, at no matter what time it was that I went to sleep.
Now without the meds, i'm back to the way i was ... laying in bed for HOURS and still no relief. Something that has helped me over the years, i get up and keep on doing my routine as if i didnt' have to goto sleep (nothing that grabs your attention to where you'll end up trying to fight sleep tho. lol! i've done that so many times.) and when i get sleep tired, i head back to bed (and making your bed only for sleeping, - i've heard that helps if the bed is only used for sleeping and nothing else) I have had people sugest a 20/20 rule, where you try to sleep for 20 minutes, and if you dont sleep by then, to get up for 20 minutes, and return back to bed after the 20 mins is up, and repeat this cycle (but that for me, only energizes my body more and makes for a stressful night, as its my mind that wont turn off, not my body. lol!) But it may help you?
