I am having dreams that demons are out to get me. I have been having them the last couple of weeks. The night before last, I dreamed that the demons were trying to hit me with various objects. Last night I dreamed that they tried to burn my house down and they would not let me leave the house. What does this mean? These dreams are very terrifying to me.

It's possible that dreams like these are representing your fears of helplessness and feeling trapped.

If you have recurring dreams like this, you can give them a bit of a nudge. Before going to sleep think about how you would like the dream to end. Remember, in a dream you can do and be what you want. So, for example you could turn into a super hero and zap the demons away, or have a huge sword to slay them with. Thinking about the way you want the dream to end will help.

Hugs

Hi,
Your subconscious uses deamons in your dreams because you belive in the religious mumbo-jumbo.
What happened in the last 2 weeks these dreams started? There is always a mental or physical cause for bad dreams. Have you started on medication, or changed the existing ones? Have you changed your diet? Are you under some stress?

I also have that type of dream and I experience the same dream every few years or so. In my dream, the demons/monsters/? are kind of like disembodied spirits hovering over me with faces like gargoyles. I am beyond terrified and even when I wake up, terror has me in its hands. I don't have a religious background that has any reference to demons, etc. so that can't be the source. I also don't know what they mean.

I'm sorry you're being haunted in these terrible night mares! You aren't by any chance watching tv shows about the supernatural just before bed are you? That would surely cause some of what you describe, for some people. And of course you aren't reading any demon filled books, right?

If you have a worship center or a faith, I would contact someone connected with that and ask for prayer there as well.

Thanks everyone with your responses. I suppose that I have been under alittle bit of stress lately because of school. I just had to finish an essay that was a little stressful to me. But, I have no idea why I'm dreaming about demons out to get me. I've been on the same medication for two years, so that can't be it. I have not been watching any bad movies either. I will ask others to pray for me when I go to prayer meeting this week. Thanks everyone.

Hey Carole,
don't worry about the dreams. I'm also a Christian, and I also go to prayer meetings, and various other church functions (bible readings, Sunday school clubs for the kids, etc) so I won't invalidate your experience by describing it as religious mumbo jumbo.

Having said which a lot of mental distress does manifest itself in religious imagery. For the most part, if demons are trying to decieve and torment people, and mislead them from the truth, they're not going to do it in an obvious way that will draw attention to them. They would be subtle... what would be the point of them leering at you, if it was not building up the body of Christ?
And again, I reiterate, I've had personal experience of the "demonic" and the dreadful dark beneath the skin of the earth, so I will listen.

Good news is, you don't have to fear that. Someone already went down and silenced Hell for you.

Thank you mgran. I did ask my pastor and others to pray about my terrible dreams and the prayers worked. I have not had the demons in my dreams for several days now. And you're right. Hell has already been silenced, which is very comforting.

Hi Carole, I agree with Dr. Jean that there's some correlation between watching or reading horror books/shows, and maybe what's going on with you.
Last night I had a nightmare thinking that a group of Pro-Choice people were menacing and harrassing me, and in the dream I felt quite intimidated. However, I did attend a pro-life rally for the prevention of the passing of Bill 371 in NYC a couple of weeks ago....so I see what my subconscious fears were by attending the rally, and why I might have had such a strange nightmare as that! There probably in most cases always is a rational explanation as to why we have nightmares; it's about fears and insecurities lurking under the surface IMO.
Thanks for this!

I frequently have dreams of demons and the sense that they are trying to get me. It is utterly terrifying. I understand.
