Hi everyone,
Sorry if someone already posted about this, I just find it so interesting. I am able to realize that I'm dreaming, and also control my dreams. I've asked quite a few people if they experience this as well, and all of them have said no. Is this a common thing? What have been your experiences with lucid dreaming? One of my examples is in a dream, I was close to death from a villain, and I told myself "I need to wake up from this dream, I need a tool to hit me over the head and wake me up". So a bowl of fruit appeared in front of me, I grabbed an apple, held it over my head and dropped it. I woke up instantly. In many of my dreams as well, I can make myself fly. If I don't like a dream I'm having, I'll wake up when I want. |

Sure I can... I had to intend to lucid dream, take control at first... now I often find that if I am in a situation I don't like in a dream, I can change it...half awake half asleep type stuff.
Here's a link to what I found on a search... yes we have discussed it a bit here... but it is interesting isn't it? http://forums.psychcentral.com/searc...archid=1704913

Lucid dreaming is so cool! I used to lucid dream a lot when I was younger but nowadays I'm finding that I'm having to 'relearn' how to lucid dream. But when I do succeed it is so amazing, I could write forever about it but I'm sure you know what I mean! x)

As a kid I had lucid dreams. At first they terrified me because the ones I had were very hard to wake up from, but around the time I was 13 I enjoyed them and had them quite frequently. I still get them from time to time but I don't seek them out like I used to.

Yes!! I have been doing this for about a year now. I love how I can get out of terrifying dreams. Sometimes I make myself stay in a dream because I know I am not in real danger, like exposure therapy. Other times I stay in uncomfortable dreams because I think they are trying to tell me something. It sure makes sleep interesting. I do however feel like I am not sure if something was just dreamt or really happened, a confusion that really bothers me.

I've always had this too. It's like a coping mechanism. I rarely have nightmares, because I can usually recognise that something's amiss and pull myself out before things get too scary! But then I can get confused, like complic8d. I also experience sleep paralysis, which is most likely as a result of whipping myself out of scary situations before my body can catch up!

I have the same thing, except I appear to be able to just change my dream at will. So the frightening situations just dont happen, as nothing is scary when you are effectively godlike
![]() I just wish I was able to sleep these days, was always such a great escape for me |

I've done this a few times before. I'm dreaming and then I suddenly realize I'm in a dream and I decide to make myself fly or something. Or when something bad is happening in my dream I just close my eyes really tightly in my dream and then I wake up. I love it

I kind of taught myself how to control my dreams when I was in elementary school, and it stuck with me since. Apparently it isn't common, since my friends always ask me to teach them! It's cool to know that there are other "lucid dreamers" on the board.
