I have suffered off and on with this odd sleep habits- I get up in a panac because I think someone is going to harm me. I have even gone as far as to wake up my husband convinced I saw someone standing over me and it takes me a while to realize it is a dream. I will look under the bed. Or I think I saw a spider in the bed but my room is pitch black and even if there was a spider i would have not seen it! I have told my kids we have to get out of the house because of a gas leak...It is terrorizing and happens in spurts...so strange...any input

I have slept walked since I was a little child and it can be intrusive, confusing (I wake up mid walk) not to mention annoying since I always feel like I didn't get enough sleep. It's not something that happens often but it is so frightening waking up not having a clue what your doing. I was prescribed sleeping pills to keep my butt in bed and so far they have worked as well as tea and taking myself to a calm place before drifting off. One of the funniest sleep walking moments it was 3 am and apparently I was busy folding laundry in our room when I woke my husband up doing so, he said what are you doing?!? Tried shaking me awake, i made a pyramid out of tees and jeans and was wearing 3 pairs of underwear and bras clasped and all, he flicked on the light and his laughter is what woke me up. At the time it was confusing, and scary thinking I'm glad all I was doing was building things with laundry but it is funny now. Are you prescribed anything for sleep? It might help, I don't know each case is different.

I have what is called hypnogogic dreams which sound like what you are talking about. I suggest talking to your doctor about it and do some research on these types of dreams.
They can be very intense and scary.

I made a pyramid of my duvet once. Woke up cold and couldnt find it! Eventually spotted
A dark shape in the far corner of the room. That is a funny scenario RaggedyAnn - scarey
At the time tho hey? I always feel a bit anxious when I've sleep walked or wake in the middle.
I have a recurring sleepwalking incident. Usually I remember only when I see the neatly folded
Toilet paper by my pillow in the morning. Its mostly toilet paper and always four squares exactly!
I often have vague memories of what I did in the morning.
Thanks for this!

From time to time I will "wake up" needing to use the bathroom, but I am dreaming that I am somewhere else besides my bedroom--maybe in a hotel or something. I will have a hard time finding my way to the bathroom. bumping into things, trying to climb the walls, knocking over lamps, etc. Only after I catch a glimpse of light coming from the hallway will I actually wake up and go in the right direction. Its nuts.

Definitely sounds like hypnogogic dreams, or hypnogogic hallucinations to me. My mother used to get those when she would go days without sleeping & she would pass out for a few minutes, wake up, & go on thinking the dreams were happening in real life.
