Hey, that rhymes! Anyway, has anyone else noticed that their dreams have a recurring theme or a common element?

In every dream that I can remember (which is probably 5%, assuming I have exactly one dream per night) I've always had a very specific type of telekinesis. Basically, if I raise my hand while looking at an object, it'll fly into my hand. Normally, though, this doesn't work and it either flies in a random direction and hits somebody or it just wiggles a little bit and falls down. For some reason, it never occurs to me to just pick the thing up so this leads to all kinds of exasperation.

Should this go in General Chat? I'm not sure how chatty I can be in this section, but I wanted to give it a try first.

I think most of my dreams do have a common element. Your dream of trying to catch something or grasp something is very interesting, do you have an idea of what it means?

No idea at all. I'm not really the sort of person who chooses goals to pursue so I can't really think of anything I've struggled to do.

Pretty much all of my dreams, other than the totally nonsense menageries of images/themes collected through my waking life, follow 2 general formulas.

1. I am thrust into a strange situation that makes no sense to me & somehow, despite the fact I have no idea what's going on, I manage to take on the 'hero' role & everything winds up all fine and/or dandy!
Usually the 'strange situation' involves either a personal or a macrocosmic adversary of some kind, trying to mess with me. Only a few times have I not come out the victor & that's usually when the enemy is trying to attack someone else. I'm pretty sure what that means, but I'd be interested in someone else's interpretation.

2. I get what I call "prophetic" dreams. I am singled-out & someone is trying to deliver to me a very important message or show me something fantastic... Sometimes this will tie into my previous dream & the message leads to my success or failure, as circumstances change. The prophet usually varies in motive from dream to dream, depending on the dream-specific physical representation & who they are supporting.
It's like I am Harry Potter, for lack of a nerdier metaphor. From one dream to the next it can be either Dumbledore or Voldemort, though the latter doesn't make his/her intentions so obvious. I just chalk it up to my subconscious trying to have a chat with me; that or my spiritual awareness invading my dreams when I don't meditate enough.

Blah. That was a mouthful. Interesting thing about the telekinetic power!! Perhaps it means that you are experiencing a disconnect from your own ability & the goals you want to achieve?

I also have recurring dreams of telekinesis. Not that often but still. I usually wake with a feeling of disappointment that it's not real.

I've had nightmares about cats ever since I was very little. What's weird is that I don't dislike cats at all. I am fond of all furry creatures! But I have a lot of freaky dreams about cats attacking me. Kind of like that scene in "Let the Right One In." Eugh.

I have a number things in my dreams that are fairly recurrent. I've never a telekinesis dream though.

I have a few recurring themes but the most prominent one which has been with me for as long as I remember, is that I often feel like I have trouble walking. It's as if my legs feel really heavy and weak, and I have difficulty lifting my leg, moving it forward, lowering it to the ground and repeating. It's so uncomfortable and I'm always happy to wake up from those dreams...

Oh, and another one I have often is something to do with large bodies of water. It can be everything from the ocean to a fountain, but there's always a lot of water. For another movie comparison, if you want to know what my average weird dream looks like, watch "Spirited Away." xD
Lately, though, I've just been dreaming about stupid real-life stuff. I miss my bizarro dreams.

I dream about aliens a lot...and zombies on occasion. It's deffinitely a reoccuring theme in my dreams! And I am sooo relieved when I dream about aliens or zombies. Like last night, I had a very serious dream that bothered me, so when I started dreaming about aliens I was very relieved!
Thanks for this!

I'm much the same way. I'd rather have goofy weird dreams than the more realistic ones or super disturbing ones. Lately I keep dreaming about my sister's best friend. She always dies a horrible death. It's kind of freaking me out. O.o

From the limited information I have about dreams, I know that water, especially if its clear symbolizes clarity, peace and happiness. Any dreams associated to clear water is to be interpreted as positive. Good luck!

Demons, alien children, death, and dead people talking to me. Those are my usuals... Just to clarify, they don't upset me often.

Yeah my dreams have a theme too, In all my dreams I find this little girl Madeline, she has bright emerald eyes and when she gets mad they glow, and blonde curly hair , she's always wearing a white dress or a green one and she appears to be about 7 or so but she always says "Don't let them kill me again "

Spirited Away style dreams sound lovely! I mean it would be quite worrying at first but the scope for adventure sounds wonderful! I love that film. I normally only have very odd and vivid dreams that are mostly just not that important but I have been having some rather nasty nightmare themes lately. I miss my bizarro dreams too.

I have been having two reacuring themes that are bugging me lately. I keep having dreams in which I am argueing with my boyfriend (who I love and feel safe with in real life) as to whether or not what he did to me (not in real life) was an assult. It's totally odd because I don't feel that he would ever hurt me like that but it keeps coming up along with dreams about him having cheated on me and me trying to kill him when I find out. They are so vivid they are quite disturbing.
