Hello,
I have been experiencing sleep eating episodes every weekend for the past month and a half. I want it to stop!! It makes me ashamed! I am trying to lose weight after I packed on some weight on Risperdal. The sleep eating/walking leaves me tired and depressed because of the break in my diet, though I snack and only rarely binge. Does any one have any advice? I don't have junk food in the house, but I eat nuts, peanut butter, dried fruit, or whole wheat things. I think I crave these things, but my self-discipline is obviously not there, when I am not fully conscious, so I do it in my sleep. I take lithium, cogentin, and Saphris. I also take a sleeping pill, but I read that sleeping meds can worsen sleep walking/eating, so I'm going to try going without them for a while. Thanks. |

I sleep walk/eat very often. I get up about every two hours every night. I do some pretty crazy things while sleepwalking. The other day I peed in my trash can. I was not aware with what I was doing. My mom was mad, and told me to wash the can immediately.

Ambien will worsen your other issues. Still ask your dr about taking a sleeping pill that will knock you out beyond dreaming (as that's when you'll be sleepwalking/eating). Also, try taking an extra multivitamin regularly. If oyu're craving it at night, that means you have a deficiency. Remove the deficiency and you might stop eating in your sleep.
