Since I started on risperidone 1mg, I have been having a horrid time trying to sleep, staying asleep, and then a lovely problem of waking up at 4 or 5 am and not able to go BACK to sleep... has anyone else had a problem like that before? Anything you could recommend?

I could be the meds. How long has this been going on. If it persists for longer than a week then I would call your doctor and let them know. Sleep is so very important. So if you aren't sleeping or not getting good sleep they need to know.
Best of luck to you. Hope you get those zzz's. ![]() |

Yeah. Most doctors don't want to disrupt sleep cycles and if this med is making it worse then you need to tell them. I was having similar symptoms with Zoloft. I would take it in the morning but by bed time I still couldn't sleep. I had to take so much extra zquil that it was more than 2x the recommended dose just to fall asleep and even then I didn't get good sleep. I dealt with that for 3 weeks until about 2 days before my next doctors appointment and called to see if they could get me in sooner. Once I got in my doctor said that I should have called a lot sooner since these side effects are not good at all.
The worst they can say is to hold out another week or so until your appointment but I don't' think they'll say that. They might give you something to help you sleep or try something different, but I would tell your doctor for sure. Hope you get this thing straightened out. ![]() |

Can you ask your doctor if you can take Valerian? Valerian works for me. Or can you reduce your med a bit to see if it helps...? (with drs approval of course). |
