Have had trouble sleeping in the past, hate the way it feels to lay in bed at 4am wishing I could sleep.

Hi Tony,
I know how you feel. Sleep problems literally ruin your entire day. I recently began taking Ambien to go to bed. Before then I was literally up all night or lightly sleeping. Perhaps try speaking with your Dr about your sleep issues. Or asking for a sleep study. Having the sleep study done will perhaps lead to more solutions or prognosis for your insomnia. I hope you get a restful nights sleep soon.

Four am is one of those times where you wish you could go back to sleep, but you know you have to get up in a couple of hours, so you wind up just looking at the clock.

There is a biofeedback game, Journey to Wild Divine, that puts me back to sleep. Its a game you play on the computer. You have three sensors that go on your fingertips that measure heartrate, breathing and perspiration. In the game, you learn breathing techniques that allow you to do things like levatate balls, get into new rooms and a bunch of other things. If I wake up at three or four, I hook up the game and work on the exercises that take relaxation. Within twenty to thirty minutes, I"m out. Not even my sleep medications work that well.

I hope you get a better night's sleep tonight. It sure makes a difference during the days.

I agree with this. Before Ambien, I hardly slept. I hate being dependent on drugs, but if you need it, you need it. I still get sleepy during the day and nap, but that's just cause I'm a bit lazy. If you have a doctor. ask him to give you something. Good luck getting a better night's rest.

Hi Tony, I developed insomnia within the last year and thought I would never sleep again and end up like Michael Jackson and overdose on drugs in an attempt to sleep. I tried Ambien, magnesium, and a lot other things. The only thing that worked is something I found on line. It is a plan that gives you the tools you need to finally teach your body and mind to sleep. This is a very mental situation and this plan addressed that. It's "The Effortless Sleep Method" by Sasha Stephens. It worked for me so I thought I would share it.

Try going to bed at a later hour, or just get up at 4am and start your day.

My trouble is not so much falling asleep, but staying asleep. I get up every hour on the hour. Then I walk around the next day like a zombie. I will see the doc in a couple days and hopefully he can help me.
