Hi So, every night I have the same dream. I'm standing in a field of knee-high grass, and on the horizon I see a clump of people, so I start running toward them. I get closer, and I see that the group of people is clustered around the one person I love, and they're about to kill him. So I start sprinting, but the people kill him before I get there, and then they kill me. It's so graphic and bloody and it scares me so bad. It makes me kind of scared to go to sleep, so I've been getting four-ish hours a night for more than a month. Why do I keep having this dream?

What are your thoughts about it if you let your mind go? Are there any events or places in your life that come to mind even if they seem unrelated? Anyone you are worried about? A place you are trying to get to but fear? What do you feel as you First begin to sprint? Is it fear? Initially excitement? Hope? nothing particular?
Are you engaging in any behaviors that are risky to your mental or physical health?
How old are you? Only you can choose the meaning, the reason.
Does anything precede the onset of the dream? (a sound, ...thoughts ---
Might you lose this person in another way? I am curious, this intrigues me as I have had a life full of repetitive, thematic dreams, some nightmarish, some otherwise.
Try writing it down, and Any other dreams you have---see if there is more going on to give you an answer that feels right. Let yourself fall into the dream---it will cause you distress but it will not kill you--- Does it continue if you sleep in different places?

If I just let my mind drift, it gets to, I don't know, a place where there are just swirls of greys, like when you're not quite asleep. I'm not really trying to get anywhere. When I start to sprint, I feel panicky, and like I need to get there as soon as I can.
I'm not really doing anything risky... I'm not exactly careful, but I'm not doing many dangerous things. Sometimes I scuba dove, I guess that could be risky.
I'm sixteen, and a girl. Nothing in particular happens before the dream, and I still have it if I sleep in different places- bed, couch, friend's house, vacation.
I might lose this person, like accidents happen all the time. There's a history of terminal cancer in his family. But right now he's healthy, happy, definitely not close to death in any way.
Thanks so much for your reply

My relationship with my family is... normal, I guess. I don't know what's normal for other people. I have both parents, two brothers and a sister, all younger than me. My mom doesn't like me, she'll sort of push me off and dismiss me, so I spend a lot of time in my room alone. I don't do much with my dad. My siblings are just kind of an annoyance. My mom used to slap me over and over, call me names, and my dad would just let it happen, so I don't really like any of my family. I do like my dog, though
I only love this one boy, a friend. I mean, I like some other people, but I could get along without them.

The one who is being killed is probably you, the one person you love. The abuseive people represent those who abuse you when you were younger. Don't abuse yourself. The green grass means personal growth and it is now knee high.

Your dreams are a reflection of your subconscious. You claim that your dream is that of your loved one being attacked; it is possible that you fear that something may happen to her/him and you are not fully aware of it, or you may now know how to stop feeling this anxiety. My suggestion to you is to use a calming routine every night before bed. Take a nice long bath and relax in both body and mind. Do not watch anything aggressive or violent that could seep into your subconscious and remind you of that dream.

That very well could be... The last time I saw him, he kinda looked like he'd been fighting...

Lefu check out Thunder's post again. Many times in our dreams every major person is a different aspect of ourself. The dream could very well be telling you this is the death of the past aspect, the self that was abused. You are now ready to outgrow that part, become stronger and start to say no to abuse. Sometimes a dream really wants your attention but its meaning is not literal, it repeats because the unconscious self wants your conscious self to pay attenion to the message.

Im sorry you keep having that dream. I do the same thing. Its not every night. Close enou . Mine is because I am reliving something over and over.
I am not sure mine will ever go away. As I dont know how to deal with it.
Hope you get some rest. Wish I could have helped.
