Greetings all,
I'm new to this forum, but in browsing it seems like there are some knowledgable, helpful people around here. Here's my question. I've been taking Trazadone for help with insomnia every night for the pas month and a half. Tolerance built up as I foolishly would often try to take more of the medication part-way thru the night on occasions when the initial dose I took before bedtime didn't work. BTW: that NEVER worked - taking more Trazadone at 1am after the first 150mg taken at 10pm didn't knock me out. So, my doctor suggested Seroquel as an alternative option. He put in a script for 50mg tabs. My question is..... If my body is used to approximately 200-250 mgs of Trazadone and tonight I abruptly switch to a starter dose of 50mgs of Seroquel, is it going to be enough to put me out? Remember that the last two nights I took 200+ mgs of Trazadone and was got less than 3 hours of sleep. Is Seroquel that much stronger than Trazadone that I can switch to 50mgs of Seroquel and have sleep when 200+ mgs of Trazadone didn't work? Any help from those who have experience with these meds would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |

I have been on both Seroquel and Trazadone. Currently on Trazadone. Like you, I'm finding it doesn't work as well. I do know that Seroquel is very powerful. Of course, the doc will start you off with a small dose. If more is needed, then I'm sure the doc will adjust the scrip accordingly. I don't know how I reacted with this first dose. It might take some time. I can't remember my experience with it. But it is a very calming drug--can really knock folks out!
