So I've been having some sleep symptoms on and off. They resemble manic and hypomanic sleep patterns where I feel fine but simply need less sleep. I already called the Dr. When I was having like three hours a night for a few days but he wanted me to wait before trying meds. Right now I'm sleeping like 6 hours a night in comparison to my usual ten and this has been going on for at least three nights.
I know that might not seem that bad, but I worry because lack of sleep is a trigger for psychosis which is my diagnosis. When I was really sick I was just getting two hours a night. Basically I feel fine but want to stay healthy so I'm wondering what other people's Dr.s have told them. So far as I can tell my Dr wants me to have at least a week where I'm sleeping 2-3hours a night before trying meds. So when do you worry and when do you call the Dr. for a med? |

If you are worried I would still be talking to your doctor. Tell them your concerns and ask them for advice. A relationship with doctors is 2 ways. They need to be listening to your concerns as well as giving advice.
Your doctor may have a good reason why they want you to wait but if you are having ongoing symptoms and are concerned I would definitely be talking to them and asking why they are waiting. |
