For some reason I just don't really like sleeping much these days. There's just too much to get out of one day and sleep only seems to sap what little time already exists. Because of this mindset I would have probably would have pulled a dozen all-nighters this year alone. I had two in the space of just one week just because I felt like getting more time, not because I had work or anything to do specifically.
Don't get me wrong, I still feel tired when I stay up all night, but I'd just rather not sleep and even when I do manage to sleep I don't usually get to bed until 5-6 am. This of course slightly contradicts the fact that when I do sleep, it's usually for about 9-10 hours or so. Sometimes I just end up going to bed soon after the sun comes up and wake up at sunset. I've tried to knock my sleeping time back to 1 am (very early for me), but every time I do I struggle to succeed and when I finally manage, I face resistance from my body and mind. It usually only takes a week before I slip back into a 5 am bedtime. Thus, I'm led to the conclusion that I should just be who I am and perhaps work with it rather than against it. Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone else has these weird sleep patterns and/or whether anyone else likes just staying up all night, despite the fact that it's obviously not very healthy. |

I dislike sleep because of the reason you gave, but I also dislike sleep because I hate hate the act of laying down and being alone with my mind until I pass out. I hate and dread it each night. I'm glad for meds because those cut that time in between by a lot, but I still can't seem to get over that feeling of dread every night... ugh.

I know what you mean, i used to be an insomniac until i got a grip on the meds that i'm being treated for, schitzo affective, PTSD and depression and other stuff. It took a few hospital stays to get on a sleep schedule, one that i have to sleep at night and be up in the day. I used to love being awake in the middle of the night, but since i've been married for 18 years to a day person, i have to sleep at night if i want to see my husband so i try my best, and my clozapine also knocks me out until the next morning. I think i do like being up int the day now, but still have days where i'll sleep all day, i just must have tired blood.

Ah, good to know I'm not the only one. I also dislike the whole "being alone with my thoughts" thing. Usually when I go to sleep later i.e. 6 am, I can avoid staying awake for an hour in bed. I've considered meds, but I heard it's not a good idea unless you really need them. Luckily I have no partner to sync with either atm, so I can maintain my night schedule for a while, as long as I stay in good health.
