I had anxiety/major depression a number of years ago and have worked hard at recovery. My days, for the most part, are really good but I still have problems with sleep, esp. bad dreams and morning anxiety. Doesn't occur every night but enough that it bothers me. When I have had a bad night I wake up almost feeling like I have a hangover.
I had a friend (a very positive person) who used to laugh and talk in her sleep. I thought that was so nice that she seemed happy even when she was asleep. I am beginning to wonder if it is a control issue - like I have pretty good control over the daytime but none once I fall asleep. Just a thought ... Any input or suggestions? |

In Your dreams you are feeling the under currents of anxiety, that you are less aware of when you are awake. Keep working on turning down the anxiety.

Thanks for the response Thunder. I think you are onto something ... I am in a new job which is great so far but I am discounting the stress of the change ... the truth is hard to hear but necessary to recovery! Thanks for pointing this out.

I am very anxious in the morning it is the worst part of the day for me. hate it, in fact i went to take a nap this morning after a dentist appointment and woke up at 5:30 at night and my husband was cooking dinner and i asked him why he was cooking dinner in the morning?? I was really out of it!!! The anxiety level of mine in the morning is soo bad i wish i was dead just to get away from the feeling. Coffee helps, always so i have to wait until i have about 4 cups of coffee before i'm half awake.

I know I am not alone in this nighttime and morning anxiety thing. Sorry to hear you have it so bad Avlady. I think Thunder has it right that the bad dream thing is probably suppressed anxiety. Thanks for responding.
