I've been having this problem where I'll bring up situations with people that actually never happened. Does this happen to anyone else? Is there a name for it?

I'm not sure, Nanuconfused. Could it be part of schizoaffective disorder? I think it could be a good question to ask your doc.

When I was taking Seroquel my dreams were so vivid that I had a hard time separating them from reality. Could it be some meds you are on?

It could have something to do with meds, but it's happened before when I wasn't on anything. Not sure! *shrug*

There have been time I've had hyper-realistic dreams, so much so that I wake up in physical pain like that which the dream would cause. Only happened a few times though. As far as confusing dreams in general I've done that a lot but mostly because my dreams end up happening, so if they don't/haven't happened yet I get a little confused. I think it's nothing to overly worry about because either like attracts like or I just know all the weirdos because half of my friends can relate to having dreams that they confuse with reality at one point or another. Doesn't mean it isn't bad, just not necessarily.

Thanks for this!

Sometimes they're just a little off, but they just feel so real that I get confused and then some kind of deja vu thing happens I guess.

I know several people who take Topamax who describe the same thing. They lose track of whether they dreamed something, thought it or actually did it. Next time you see your doctor, it might be a good idea to discuss it and see if you would benefit from a change in meds or dosage. I don't know if it's caused by your particular meds, but it can definitely be a side effect for some people. Not just psychiatric drugs either. It can happen with antihistamines, pain killers, some statins and the drugs they give to stop incontinence.
Thanks for this!

I have had similar things happen with my dream life and my wakeful life. It may be meds. It may be normal part of learning from our dream state. Perhaps thinking first thing in the morning when you wake up "what did I dream last night?" and let a quick little review happen will help.

Deja vu and dream memories can give us warnings, information and something funny to talk about.

We may worry about our sanity when a dream seems so real that it is hard to tell from wake states but listing our dreams, reviewing our high points of our day as we go to sleep, and looking for physical sensation clues can sure help. Swallow, breathe, curl your toes, touch your face and feel your physical body and space.

I sure hope it gets easier for you. Let us know what the doc says.
Hugs

I have times when I feel like a part of my dream is like some kind of deja vu but at the same time I know that it hasnt happened, well yet anyway. Sometimes I can't ignore it & it sets me on a downward spiral of confusing thoughts and emotions.

these 'episodes' dint happen while I was on fluoxitine. :/

The next time you are having a "realistic" dream, try the following: (1) Look at peoples' hands. In a dream, the hands will always be misshapen, like a cartoon character. Typically the fingers will be out of proportion with the mid-fingers being longer than they should.... Or they will only have 3 fingers and a thumb. (2) Pinch your nose shut and try to breath thru it. In a dream, you will continue to breath normally thru your pinched nose.

You will remember this when you are awake, and will have confirmation that it was only a dream.

Dreams can be very confusing, there was this kid who knocked me down and bladed my face while ice skating, I was hospitalized then sent home after finding out that no stitches where needed. I really cant remember the next few days, but I had a dream where I broke that kids arm. Or was it a dream? I have no idea...
I have also had tge common dream where you get out of bed at get ready for the day until you find yourself waking up and having to do it again... Dreams are quite trippy.
