I keep having this reoccurring dream, or at least it's very similar from night to night.
I'm usually doing something, it varies from dream to dream, when I suddenly notice my one or several of my teeth become very loose in my mouth. It's usually my molars that are loose, for some odd reason. It's like when your a kid and you've got a loose tooth. Well, I begin to oh so gently wiggle it with my tongue subconsciously for a while. It's around this time, I realize my tooth, or teeth are loose, and I try to keep them in my mouth with my fingers, but it's futile as by then, the tooth literally dangles from a thread of flesh and gum. It's usually then that I notice my tooth or teeth, for some odd reason, have little to no root(s), like the tooth literally just dissolved in my mouth and left the crown part to fall out. At this point I can taste the warm saltiness of blood gushing forth from the socket as the tooth proceeds to fall out, despite my best effort to keep it from doing so. In some dreams I'm holding the bloody tooth or teeth in my hands, running my tongue over the gaping spot where they once were, and crying with the realization that this is permanent and I will always have gaps in my teeth and as a result, will be disfigured. I sometimes even call out to Mom for help. In one dream in particular, half the teeth on my upper jaw fell out, while the teeth on the opposite side on my lower jaw fell out. I was literally just scooping handfuls of teeth out of my mouth in that one. I usually wake up with the same feeling and do the same ritual of running my tongue through my whole mouth to make sure all my teeth are there, and feeling insane relief to realize I was just dreaming. Now, it should be noted that I have a penchant for grinding my teeth at night, so I wear a night guard. But these dreams always seem to persist. I've also done some research, and read that dreams where one's teeth fall out are symbolic of one not feeling like they are able to communicate in the way they'd like to. I do feel like I can't communicate with the opposite sex very well, could this be where my dreams are stemming from?

I used to have similar dreams but I also had very bad teeth & the enamel never formed well on them so they were always cracking & breaking.....& I always was grinding my teeth. Interesting because they say that comes from stress & my parents had no idea why in the world I would be stressed. Looking back, I know exactly why because I pushed myself to do well in school & well in everything so that I would be nothing like my parents. I had a horrible relationship with my parents & I was always fighting with them so I think that is what kept me grinding my teeth even during the summers & times when I wasn't in school.
When I got married I ended up in a bad marriage so the stress continued & so did the grinding of my teeth & the dreams of my teeth falling out. It's ironic because all my teeth have broken off & I have an appointment with the oral surgery group at the UK dental school to have them assess & make the arrangements for all my teeth to be pulled....& I have more surgery that needs to be done in order for the dentures to be able to fit because I have a soft bony growth on the back of my lower jaw that has to be removed also. And as mentioned, stress was the cause of these dreams. So I think if you get anxiety about communicating with the opposite sex or if it is something that bothers you quite a bit, then I would say that is the reason for it. |

I used to have dreams like this a lot ... seemed to be partly based on fear it would happen and anxiety; thankfully haven't had it for awhile ... I also grind my teeth so maybe it is connected

I used to get those dreams all the time. I read somewhere that it means you have something to say but feel unheard.

Being unheard can be intentional or not. My parenys weren't mentally capable of hearing & understanding but the reaction can be the same intentional or not...ended up in a marriage where H couldnt understand because mind was incapable...showed up more over the years but always like tgat...lol no winder my teeth are so messed up

Very interesting. I had a dream last night that I was going on a trip and had to pack, I was running late, I was worried.... and I dreamt that my teeth fell out and I needed crowns or dentures. And as we were leaving I had to insist that I needed the things I require to make my teeth and keep them in my head.
It is true that I am somewhat worried about a trip I will be taking at the end of the month with my siblings.

I have had similar dreams where my teeth fall out. I have noticed that whenever I have these dreams I actually need to go to the dentist, and when I do go, there is always a tooth that needs pulled or a root canal or something.
I also think that there may be some truth to what you said about communication problems and not being able to say what you need to say to someone and having a lot of stress in your life at the time of the dreams. I sometimes have those same problems too. ![]() |
