I had a nightmare last night that something was moving the sheets so I jumped out of bed and still it got me and was squeezing my legs all the way up and I thought I opened my eyes and I was in bed but couldn't move except for my head so I screamed to wake myself up and it worked but I still gad the sensation of my legs being squeezed.
It was a stressful day so I guess that's why I had the nightmare.

Hi hopingoforpeace

Sometimes when I wake from a dream it can take a while for me to transition the difference between my dream state and what is real when I am awakening. Sometimes sensations and thoughts can take a while to subside.

It can feel a bit frightening at first, especially if the thoughts or sensations are unpleasant, like in a nightmare.

I think the stress in your day may very well have contributed to your state of mind.

I hope you are able to rest a bit easier tonight.

Take care.

What Hooligan said is probably what happened to you. I too experience these transition issues from nightmares, especially if there's pain. But when you said you couldn't move, that made me think it could have been sleep paralysis that didn't go away when you tried to wake yourself up.

Aha! I think maybe it was something like that. I thought I opened my eyes and picked up my head to look down at my legs and thats when I screamed to wake myself up. I haven't had that expierience before maybe I just thought I was awake. Disturbed sleep started since I got married and moved into my husband's home. I experience loads of conflict routinely -a mix of happiness and despair - as I discover how things are here in upside down world...

my dreams are so real i don't know if they happened or not, i went through a pshycotic time a few years ago where i actually acted on my dreams thinking they really happened. i thought i saw the pope and president bush in a dream i had which i didn't not believe it for months. it seemed so real, my t had to get me through the denial. please don't judge me for it, i sound really crazy, but i think it was the meds i was on at the time that caused it. i ended up in the pshyc ward for a month's stay too to change my meds which seems to have worked.
