Hi,

I have tried to understand from various sources online but nothing seems perfectly suited to my dream, as well as there being a lot of contradictions.

My dream is as follows;

I walk up to a double bed/bedspread with a woman who wakes up, she is wearing a rather unflattering military-style green vest, and while shorts, she sits up, kneeling, but as I go to casually sit on the bed next to her, I realize that, the mattress and whole base of the bed is not really a bed at all, but in fact a pool table with a number of scattered stripped balls, and a cue. The baize was coloured blue.

I never felt sad, afraid, or aroused, just calm and relaxed during my dream.

The woman is one that I have become interested in, but have never met, only chatted to so far via messenger, as we live about 4,000 miles apart.

Thanks for any insight.

Thunder Bow usually has some good ideas, so we'll wait for him to chime in here. In the meantime, I could take a crack at it, but there are a lot of images here that may have a personal meaning to you.

One thing that could help is describing a bed and describing a pool table as if you were explaining them to an alien who has never heard of these things before. For instance, "A bed is a platform for sleeping on." If it has meaning to you, you could add "A place for cuddling or sex, a place that feels safe under the covers, etc." Add what feels meaningful to you, sticking closely to the phrasing "A Bed Is..."

Then do the same thing with a pool table. "A pool table is a platform used for playing a game with balls, for playing with friends, a place where skill is needed...." Whatever feels meaningful to you, again sticking with the phrasing "A Pool Table Is..."

What is this new friend like?

What has been your experience with the military?

What do you make of the blue baize? I don't know much about pool tables so I don't know if this is common or very unusual.

Hi, fats, welcome to PsychCentral (PC). Thank you for sharing your dream. I took a professional dream course associated with the International Association for the Study of Dreams: International Association for the Study of Dreams I'll give it a try.

What struck me was the woman in a military-style uniform. Police and military in dreams can mean "structure"/rules, "law and order" that sort of thing. It could be that you are feeling a bit hesitant about actually approaching this woman? One dream dictionary site had this to say about billiards, which I found a bit consistent with the woman being military-related?

"If you see billiards in your dream, it means that you might violate the law; perform the wrong, illegal actions; it is a sign of litigation in court; problems in relationships and deceit of friends." From: Interpretation of a dream in which you saw «Billiard»

It could be yourself trying to warn you off or worried about getting more involved with this woman?

Thanks Mike.

The first word that comes to mind when phrasing "a bed is..." -is comfortable, I am an accomplished pool player, though not professional. I have played in local leagues in the past as well as winning trophies, I also am ranked in a virtual pool online game, about 16th in the world. So it's not difficult to understand how my subconscious, drew on such imagery, but it's meaning is another matter altogether. In the US the baize is most commonly blue, but here in the UK is most commonly green. And being around a pool table I do feel comfortable also.

My new friend is cute, very nice, but a bit secretive, which probably what has sewn some doubts.

I found 2 distinct interpretations of the above before landing it with you guys.

1 was forewarning me of betrayal, the other was for me to win this woman I must be more cooperative.

The pool balls represented friends, probably the online gaming community in which I chat.

The pool table according to Dreammoods suggested cooperation. The betrayal aspect only seemed to apply if the game was actually being played. Also, note that none of my friends have met this woman (not even I) so my close friends surely could not exhibit any kind of betrayal. Whether she herself would is a good question.

But following the cooperation to be successful theory sounds great, but it's never a good idea to interpret one's own dreams, as wishful thinking often pollutes objectivity.

Even though I'm new to this site, I've always found dream analysis intriguing.

You were meeting a part yourself on a pool table. You feel comfortable and know you have "Balls".
