I have important class tomorrow and have to wake up early but cannot sleep. I had this problem since I was a toddler but it is getting worse as I grow. I share my room with my brother and he sleeps at about 1:30 am. By that time, I am awake. I get sleepy at around ten or eleven, however since the entire family is still awake, it is impossible to sleep at that time. I always miss the class in the morning as I cannot get awake before ten in the morning. I am fed up with this lifestyle and it is definitely having an effect on my development and health. I personally want a lifestyle of sleeping at ten or eleven and wake up around five or six the next morning. What can I do?

Can you find a separate room for yourself? Check with your doctor to see if you have a sleep disorder. Anxiety can mess up sleep very well.

I'm sorry about that... I 've had trouble sleeping and it sucks. That's why I'm now trying to get up as early as I can and use my bike, so I'm tired early at night.

If you can do 30 min of daily exercise, of something you enjoy doing. That'll help a lot.

Unfortunately, no. Our house has only three rooms besides toilet and bath. I live in Tokyo. I can't say anything luxurious.

Can you talk to your family about this and how this is affecting your school attendance. That they can find a quiet corner for you, or some place in the house. Are you able to move out into your own place? Ask them to show some consideration.

I would love to move out but that's not also easy in Japan. Our family is too wealthy for me to apply scholarship, but renting apartment is outrageously expensive here. Even household with $250000 income per year could afford a small house in the residential area with only three large rooms. Student renting is out of the question. Hmmm, the dorm is only for international students and I don't want to borrow money from others....
