I have to get up to go pee at least 2 or 3 times a night. And when I go back to bed, sometimes I can't go back to sleep. Sometimes I can't go to sleep to begin with. When that happens, I get up & walk slowly around-&-around the dark & quiet house... for an hour or two... sort-of a walking meditation. Thoughts come & thoughts go at their own pace. I listen to the sounds in the distance outside. When I find myself becoming lost in thought, I turn my attention lightly to my feet as each foot encounters the floor. Usually when I do go back to bed, I fall asleep.

Cherry juice contains natural melatonin (sleep hormone), so does bread and turkey and such. If sleeping is the issue this could help.
If it has to do with nightmares, I don't know how much help I can be there.
