I always have trouble sleeping at night. It is almost like I am afraid to sleep at night. Then I am tired and sleep during the day. When I am awake I have a constant headache. Does anyone else have trouble falling asleep because they are afraid? I don't know what I could be afraid of. Luckily I am on disability so I don't have to work during the day. My headaches are horrible though.

Well... I often have trouble getting to sleep at night. I also have difficulty staying asleep & getting back to sleep after I've woken up. However the reasons I have these problems are not related to fear... although I do sometimes find myself experiencing some mild paranoia when I'm awake late at night. I'm also not employed though. So the fact I don't sleep well isn't a huge issue for me either. My understanding is that the basis of fear is generally anxiety. (And I seem to have plenty of that.) Here's a link to an article by our host, Dr. John Grohol, where he talks about anxiety & fear:

I don't know about the constant horrible headaches. That sounds like something that perhaps should be evaluated medically. If there's no medical basis for them, perhaps they are simply another symptom of anxiety. However it's probably best to have them checked out medically before you assume they're related to mental health concerns. I wish you well...

Hello. Do you think there might be part of you afraid of the dark, and therefore sleeping in the dark? If so, it could be a good starting point.
