I've had two recent dreams where I had two pet rats that came running up to and jumping on me just like a puppy would. In the second dream it was with a ferret who was very lovable. Any ideas on what these animals could represent? I have an intense interest in lucid dreams and out of body experience-things that are about the subconscious. I pursue that subject for the benefits it can bring-anything from improving your golf swing to personality improvement.

I think someone is trying to get your attention in life and you need to look out for them, be kind to them, and you'll be rewarded, though not in a "normal" way.
Thanks for this!

Hi. According to a dream interpretation website that I like, the rat and the ferret represent certain things.

Rats

To see a rat in your dream signifies feelings of doubts, greed, guilt, unworthiness and envy. You are keeping something to yourself that is eating you up inside. Or you have done something that you are not proud of. Alternatively, a rat denotes repulsion, decay, dirtiness, and even death. The dream may also be a pun on someone who is a rat. Are you feeling betrayed?

In particular, to see a black rat represents deceit and covert activities. If you see a white rat in your dream, then it means that you will receive help from an unexpected source.

To dream that a rat is biting your feet is analogous to the rat race that you are experiencing in your waking life.

To dream that you catch a rat with your bare hands indicates that you are not letting greed, jealousy, betrayal or some other negativity get the best of you.

Ferret

To see a ferret in your dream symbolizes distrust and suspicion of others. The dream may also be a pun on searching. If the ferret in your dream is white, then it is highlighting or amplifying some trust issues in your waking life.

Sounds kind of negative but I find the insights help to see myself a bit clearer. Sometimes. And from there I can attempt to grow.

[QUOTE=mote.of.soul;6056207]Hi. According to a dream interpretation website that I like, the rat and the ferret represent certain things.

Yes I've read those descriptions but I don't think in my case they are right because the rats and the ferret were like pets-very loving/affectionate jumping up in my lap. That said at least for the ferret the sneaky image fits sort of but I won't go into that-nothing illegal nor taking unfair advantage of someone. But the rats I don't understand. Brown and white like you'd see in the pet store. I know pet rats will be very affectionate like a puppy. Thx for your input.
Thanks for this!

That is somewhat ridiculous. I have owned 26 rats over the years and have a very good and loving feeling about rats. So if I dream about a rat, it's almost surely a happy thing.

kreg, What is your feeling about rats and ferrets? How you feel about those animals would certainly indicate what your dreams mean.
Thanks for this!

.
Aww, yes, I agree, rats are very affectionate animals in real life. I love them. Same with the ferret. But to dream about them, well, that really is another thing. Because they're helping you to see the real inner you, you see. The authentic you.

I've read those descriptions but in my case these animals were very loving friends. I can see some connections with the ferret-as a sneaky creature-this to a friendship to another person I met. The rats dream was a couple weeks earlier. they also were very loving and playful. I don't make any connections here. How do I feel about rats and ferrets? I've always wanted a pet rat -same with a ferret. the wife wouldn't go for it.

I think that any attempt to interpret a dream like this, would likely hinge on how that dream made you feel - if your response was warm & fuzzy, then I'd chance that it could simply be a case of desiring/relating to that experience. If you found it disturbing, then perhaps these creatures represent something troublesome to you.

FWIW, I've known people who had pet rats & I personally found them (the 4 legged furry critters) quite affectionate & engaging.
Thanks for this!

They are parts of yourself, needing attention.

I liked this interpretation page's view:

https://exemplore.com/dreams/Rat-Dre...nterpretations

When I read where they said:
Quote:
Rat dreams can also suggest that we are fearful of not being accepted. Just like the detested rat, you may be fearful that you will be outcast. We all want to feel love and feel that we belong and if we don't, this can trigger bad dreams.
but, for you, I was thinking since they were acting like pets, maybe they are trying to tell you you are accepted and belong?

But I agree with them that your own feelings and what else is going on in the dream, how you felt about them in the dream (and outside) and your personal circumstances are most important. What "new" different activities were you doing that day/recently? New thoughts?

I would think the ferret is just there to "ferret out" the truth/information Help you feel you can understand the dream.
