I usually share my dreams with my therapist and we talk about them.

I've recently had this recurring dream that I havent shared and dont want to and I dont know what it means.

We are in her offce having a session and the sky outside the window is dark (I only have daytime sessions.) Suddenly the door bursts open and two men wearing masks come in. One has a gun, the other a knife. They tell us both to take off our clothes, and we do, backed up into a corner of her office. I am standing in front of her. They are arguing about which one of us to do first and then they choose me, intending to take turns while the other one watches my T before they trade off. But in the middle of the first one's turn with me there was a loud noise and men's voices in the hallway, and they ran away.

Afterwards (hours, days, later? I dont know)- my T tells me that she can't be my therapist anymore bc of what happened.

I told T (real life) that had a dream and she asked about it and I refused to tell her. Why would I dream something so awful?

I've had the dream twice...

Just a thought

I had similar dreams of sexual assault myself. Have something happen to you? Some kind of trauma? Stress?

Since you usually share your dreams with your therapist, I think that it would be good to tell her about this dream as well.

I expect that she will help you understand it, and also reassure you that such dreams do happen.

I notice that at the end of the dream t stops being your therapist. The dream came right when you were under stress due to her absence for vacation. Perhaps subconsciously you feared losing her permanently. But how could that actually happen? Is she so close and reliable that it would take a true disaster (such as the dream) to have her even think of separating herself?

Even then, I don’t think that she would do it. In fact, a shared disaster like that could make you even closer to her, as she would understand full well what you would be going through afterwards.

This dream may mean you are healing. Your were facing being volernable in therapy, exposed and feeling threatened. The loud voices in the hallway means the work that you were doing with your therapist. I feel this is a healing dream. The work you are doing in therapy is making those fears run away.

I've had the dream twice...

Well, was she upset because of your refusal to share this dream?

YES. She gets a little "well if you wont tell me it makes me think you don't trust me and we are not as close as I thought."

Feels like a guilt trip. But did end up telling her, and it was okay...

I didn't think of it this way before, but she IS close and reliable, and losing her would be devastating...
