greetings! i have been quit for over 80 days and it hasnt been easy but WELL worth it.
What made all the difference on this quit (previous attempts lasted 24 hours) was that i went to my doctor before the quit and we made a quit plan for me. I was prepared to quit 2 monthes before i actually made the decision and ran my smokes under water and dumped in the garbage (i knew i would just cave and hunt for em in the garbage can). I also joined quitnet.com which has helped tremendously. (dont know if i m allowed to promote another website here-just trying to be helpful based on my successful experience) I also use commit lozenges which help ALOT as i am not able to use the patch. i wish you all the best....you are headed in the right direction.......feel free to message me if you need/want support. maureen |

Hello,
For starters it's important to not beat yourself up. I have smoked for over 25 years, it hasn't been easy but I have one month as of today. I did spend at least 6 months cutting down and in some people's cases that smoke a lot more it's important to reduce first so you're body doesn't go into shock, i believe. I'm not a doctor, but I do believe it needs to be gradual. Please remember that it's mostly about behaviors and the psychological effects of the smoking that really gets us hooked. I started to print off pictures of what a smoking lung looks like and put it on my fridge. It was a start. good luck to you you can do it, i beleive in you!!!! ![]() |

Good luck, trust-hurts. I quit after 31 years about ten years ago. I kept telling myself I could quit for another hour. Then I worked very hard at not thinking about smoking and immediately changed the thought if smoking sneaked in again.

You've done really well to get down to 4 - 5 a day! Keep at it and you will get there... Best of "Won't Power!" Rhiannon

Thankyou all for your advice
![]() What really hit me was a conversation with one of my really good friends (co-incidently my ex) when she was absolutly bladdered, She poured out her heart as to how she was so worried about how i was killing myself etc. Big big wakeup call. That was over 12 hours ago now and I havn't touched one since. Hopefully I'll kepp it up, because i do realise how much of a waste it really is. |
