When I bought the ecig back in Dec. '09, I wasn't sure it could be used as a quit tool, or would just become a replacement for tobacco/another addiction. Now, almost 8 months later, I really don't even think about smoking, or the ecig. I believe, from this exp, that tobacco companies put an extra something in the cigarettes to keep smokers addicted. I had not really expected to have success quitting, after being a 35 year smoker, from having tried everything over the counter, prescription, to cold turkey and failing at all of them. I just bought the ecig out of resignation that I could never quit, so I might as well try something less toxic.
Anyway, this is just an update, since I had posted here sev months ago about using the ecig. At that time, I was just relieved to not be using tobacco. The ecig still gave a hit of nicotine, but I found that I could let it go after a while, unlike ever being able to do with tobacco.

OH WOW! I'm so proud of you! This is wonderful for you! As you know, as soon as you quit smoking, your lungs begin to heal! Way to go! Now replace it with a good habit and keep with that.

wow am i glad you posted. i am currently using ecig and havent smoked in over 80 days. i ve been stepping down on the mg.dose on the cartridges. i only use it about three times a day (what an addict- "only"). everyday i wonder how long will it take to get off this dang thing? then i remember that i am stepping down and i read a really encouraging message-thank you.
not alot of people know about ecig so its difficult to get any feedback or support about it in regards to quitting. so thanks again and congradulations!

Hi, Maureen,
At first, I was like you, using it as a quit device, and gradually stepping down the dosage, but then I discovered it didn't make much difference when I used it, or how high or low the nicotine content. It seemed to wean itself! I can still take a puff on the ecig if I feel like it, or just not bother with it! something I could never have done with tobacco. You are doing a good thing with this device. Even if you never quit completely, you have gotten away from the many toxins in tobacco. Sure, there are concerns about the ecig liquid, and that is why to eventually let it go also, but in the meantime, I think it's healthier not to obsess about quitting. The quitting will come because the ecig is not addictive like tobacco.
Thanks for this!
