The last time I tried to quit, I made it 2.5 days before I went to play pool and being in the pool hall make me say screw it, I ripped off the patch and bought a pack of smokes. Well, about a month ago, I set May 1st as the day to try again, because as of today, smoking will no longer be allowed indoors, anywhere. I'm doing the gum this time instead of the patch. The patch actually caused nerve pain. I've only had one piece of gum so far today, and its lasting almost an hour. You only chew it for a few seconds and then "park it" between your gums and cheek like chew. Seems to be doing the trick.

I've also been praying for the obsession of nicotine to be removed today. I know I'm powerless over nicotine and my life is definitely unmanageable because of cigarettes. So....I'll be doing a 4th step soon on my resentment at cigarettes. Last time, I didn't use the steps. This time I am, sooooo maybe it'll work!!!!

Hello ((((((((((RAYNA)))))))))
I think you are making a very crucial decision for your health. You should be very proud of yourself for making this decision. I hope all goes well in the future in your endeavour to stop smoking. Take care and good day. Soidhonia

one of the best things i ever did for myself was to quit smoking its been 12years since. i stopped when i first found out i was preggers. was a bit rough at times ya know after dinner or at a party or just hangin out but. like you i had a new love to help me with any craving feeling. i had my son .like you have your bf now. hope hes not a smoker then that would stink. lol..

so congrats on day 1 and keep up the good work and i totally have faith in you with this. look at what youve already accomplished so this should be a peice of cake for you.

You can do it Ray!!!! You'll probably have a few cheats but that doesn't mean you can't go back to having quit. Try your best not to cheat though because it sucks you in again so fast if you're not really disciplined. It's hard, I know-it took me a few months of quitting before I REALLY quit. And now when I try to cheat, I don't enjoy it at all. It's icky and nasty and it smells terrible.
You can do it, you'll be sooo glad you did when you wake up and you can breathe in really deep breaths you haven't breathed in a very long time. It feels great.
And for a hint to help you through those cravings, do anything that makes you have to breathe in deeply. Getting yourself out of breath is the best thing, or get a bowl of steaming water and put your head under a towel and inhale the steam in deeply add some tea or anything minty (Eucalyptus) to the water to make it really awesome. This trick really works when you get that "swelled lung" feeling.

I know I can't cheat, cuz that first cigarette would start the obsession. Its been harder today, so I'm cleaning my apartment instead of staying at the desk. I never thought about inhaling steam....there's times I just want to inhale SOMETHING hahaha. I'm breathing easier, but I'm coughing up all the crud today. I don't want to have to do the first day and half over again, so that's what's helping to keep me going.

THIS FREAKING SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I should have known not to try and quit on the first, the first of the month is always stress time for me, paying bills and watching my damn checkbook dwindle. This month is especially bad because my electric bill is going up having to use a/c and my car battery died yesterday so i had to get a new one and now my damn car registration is due this month too and there's no way I can pay my %#@&#! internet bill that I put off last month thinking I could pay it this month and now there's these unexpected expenses so I don't know what will happen to my internet YET again. Its my %#@&#! fault for not being able to quit smoking until now, they're such a waste of money and got me into this mess so I'M SO %#@&#! FRUSTRATED RIGHT NOW BECAUSE I WON'T SMOKE OVER THIS, CAN'T SMOKE BECAUSE NOW I'M REALLY BROKE.......sooo frustrated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! With myself.............and I can't get my instant relief from a cigarette. I won't do it. I just won't. I have like $10 left in my acct and thats for gas in my car. I might find a way to get the net paid, but its the only thing I can get away with not having, even though I'll miss PC something terrible.
