a thought

try to stay with me folks...this is confusing to think, so it might be confusing in type

i've noticed in the last couple of days my self critisism (thanks to this forum) and i've been examining the same. after doing this i realized something...some things that i put down about myself are things that i have a problem with in general, yet it adds to low self esteem when i apply it inward. recognizing that really helped me with it!

take, for example, something light...feet (hehe). i HATE my feet, but i realized it's not just my feet i hate, it's all feet that i have a problem with...i'm very critical of feet. please forgive me! then take it further, i hate my hair...there again i notice and seem very critical of hair in good and bad ways...i either LOVE someone's or don't. i've just realized this and it's really helped. when i could tell myself it's not just this i hate or don't like or am critical about self...it's with every circumstance...it's way helped on the "put down" aspect of it.

it's brought about another issue...why am i so critical of certain things. however, THAT'S another post

Ok, ya know my head has a million thoughts in it today, but maybe this is just me thinking. Could the feet thing be something buried deep inside to do with abuse issues? Just work with me here. I know when Lisa would hide she would look under the door to watch for feet to see if they were coming. Is a thought. Could be you just don't like feet. Hands can be a trigger for me as well. Is maybe why if we do any si it's to our hands and feet. I know for me I want to know the reasons for everything. Maybe there isn't any reasons for things?? Good Luck with T tomorrow. Hmmm... I'm really critical of people's hair but I have always attributed that to the fact that I'm an ex-beautician. There was a time that I was really fussy with how my hair looked on a daily basis. Not much anymore, except sporadically. I don't like going to get my hair done because it's never done the way I want it; be it a perm, a color job much less the actual hairdo. A few months ago, I decided to cut my own hair because what they're charging for haircuts now-a-days is REDICULOUS!! I bit the bullet a couple of weeks ago, took some strong pain medication and gave myself a WONDERFUL perm! My hair almost looks naturally curly. Yesterday, I had my hair weaved and I'm not happy with it at all. It's too yellow! The gal wouldn't bleach it. What can you expect with black hair but orange or brazzy results?? Oh, well. I can work with it.

I'm always fussing with my granddaughter's hair because her mom doesn't even brush it. I wash it, cut it, put it in braids, whatever suits the occasion. I've gotten my hands on her mother's hair, but to no avail. It's just something else to take care of for her and she doesn't take care of much to begin with. I absolutely hate it when the men in my family buzz their heads. GGGGRRRRR

See if you can put that together with my childhood experiences with hair:

My grandmother used to like to wash it but she'd scrub so hard, I'd tell my mom that she made my head blead. It was kind of a running joke, but it still hurt.

My mom's only ability with hair was to braid my hair. There's a picture of me with banana curls but I seriously doubt that my mom did that. LOL

Sometime around age 10, my mom had it cut and permed. It was a beautiful first perm but then a section started to go straight so she sent me back... I had a frizz when I got home.

It was kept short for some years then, but GAWD, it was awful!! I pin curled it but all I got was corkscrews when I tried to brush through it. In short, I've always been extremely conscious of my hair and that of others.

I happen to like my hands but I'm the same way with my nails as I am my hair. Off and on although I keep them filed. No jags for me! I like acrylics because I'm more graceful in the way I use my hands when I have them on.

I tend to look at hands and I think I make subconscious decisions on what I see. I'm not sure what else I think about women's hands except that they need a manicure. LOL Men's hands are a completely different story! I check their feet out, too. As far as I'm concerned, the old wife's tale is true. LOL

Good posting, BTW!! Answering or at least giving the questions I've posted, at the very least, has given us an opportunity to know ourselves better. Knowing that you are giving consideration to these things warms my heart!

I really like your hair, Kimmydawn! I've seen your pictures and your hair is really pretty!

On a side topic, I just got my hair cut yesterday. Had a nightmare about it the night before -- I HATE getting my hair cut and can only brave myself up enough to do it maybe two or three times per year. It came out okay, though!

You used to be a beautician? I didn't know that!

Since I started the hair thread, I've been thinking about it. The thing is, I hate pictures of my face!!! But... I'm still thinking about it... in a positive way. Is that ok?
