I am so uglllllyyyyy and it really kills me inside....yeah I probably do have low self esteem....I don't have much more to say though cause all I do is complain complain complain. I wish I had a killer body...I wish I had straight hair..I wish I had everything that I don't!!!!! Ugly natural curly hair kills...I just dunno how to think better about myself..its actually kind of weird though...in sports and stuff I tend to think I'm better than everyone else...appearance wise no no just plain hideous...um well the only person I know that calls me 'pretty' even though he's lying is my Dad...he's my dad though he's supposed to say that oh yeah oops complain did it again sorry

I took a look at your profile and I don't agree - I think you look pretty. It doesn't even look like you have any makeup on and not even models look good without makeup. I also like your hair. When I was younger my hair was always straight and I wanted curly hair. We always want what we don't have. After I had my girls, if I don't blow dry my hair it goes curly - it so weird the way it changed - but I like it and leave it like that sometimes.

You could straighten your hair but honestly I think it's pretty. That's awesome you're athletic and good at sports - keep focusing on that. There another thread here where a poster posted pictures of stars without makeup - what a difference. Are you willing to try a little makeup or do you like the natural look? I always give this Dove website to young women who I think need a self esteem boost. Don't compare yourself to others and learn to appreciate your own uniqueness. I truly think you look good.

I've always had problems with how I FEEL about the way I look, since a very young age ("too tall", "too fat", "too ugly"), so I can relate with you a lot and really sympathise that you feel sad about the way you think you look.

But I do think that this is low self esteem, or whatever. I looked at your pictures too and you aren't ugly, you're very pretty (no I'm not "just being nice" it's my honest opinion and I think everyone would agree with that) ... so I don't think this is about BEING ugly, but about FEELING ugly. And as well, even if you were ugly (you're not), it's not a reason to be upset, I mean, I know it is upsetting, but lots of people who aren't beautiful in that sort of, normal beautiful way (if that makes sense) don't think badly about themselves because of it. I mean, your body, face etc is just a shell, and lots of people don't place their self worth on their outer appearance, so even if they are 'ugly', it doesn't matter to them because they aren't their appearance. Not sure if I'm making sense or not?

However you look, that's how you look, you'll look like that for the rest of your life (well except you will age)...it's much better to learn to accept that as early as possible... and maybe find other things that make you happy if your appearance doesn't. In 20 years time (or possibly much less) I can guarentee you'll look back at photos of yourself and realise how beautiful you really were and how much time you wasted worrying about not being pretty, in the end that's just wasted time.
Thanks for this!

Be thankful for what you have. You're not deformed, morbidly obese, and your skin looks clear. You really don't know how privileged you are.

This is easier said than done. This is how she feels and although I agree with what you are saying, it wont help the OP.

I want to ask you a question, who told you that you were ugly? did you come to this conclusion on your own? who are you comparing yourself to? what makes you ugly?

I too looked at your profile and see a beautiful young lady. I see that you have a hard time accepting compliments as well. Do you find yourself dismissing any and all compliments that you receive? how do you feel when you are complimented?

Do you live in an area with other Black people? I am black and was raised in a predominantly white area, which caused some issues for me. Keep posting.
Thanks for this!
