hi everyone,
im spring 2014. I have been dealing with low self-esteem since my mom died and when I was growing up. I struggled with my self esteem since I started to gain weight when I was a child .I always used food as my coping mechanism when I was little . I been going to counseling since I was in high school when my dad was an alcoholic . my mom took care of my brothers and sisters when I was little. I had to take care of my parents into their dying days .I never was never able to develop my self esteem cuz I was always being put down by my wicked ex aunt in California. she never said one nice thing about me at all .she predicted that I will be janitor for the rest of my life . she is crazy and has no friends that are talking to her. now im seeing a therapist who is helping me to get back my self esteem and my self confidence back up.

Hi spring, I know how hard you are working on building self esteem. One of the steps is to not value too much the negative opinions of others like your aunt.
You can always be proud of what you did to be there for your parents even if they did not give you the childhood that was all you hoped for. The nicest lady in the world is the housekeeping person at the nursing home where my dad is staying. When I see her she makes me feel so deserving of the good things. She is like a ray of sunshine on a dark foreboding day. I will always remember her. You may have seen this before, but it is an article on building self esteem that so helps me every day.
