Could it be that it's easier to hold onto the bad than it is the good? The bad will work at us and bring us down, where as the good only seems to be there for a few short minutes. It takes hard work to hold onto the good and let the bad do the slipping through our hands, but it is possible. The more we practice at it, the easier it becomes.

((((hugs)))) For some, the garbage seems more normal, natural because that's all they had experience with while growing up, or even during years as an adult. You posted correctly in self esteem, as this is what has been all but obliterated for some people, leaving them unable to find anything good about themselves. It takes hard work (mind work, thought stopping/changing) to counter what it took years to implant erroneously. (((hugs)))
