Do you ever get that feeling that everyone in the room is looking right at you, judging your style, face, and even your attitude. You try to get past it (and sometimes you do), but it still lives in your mind, constantly bugging you. Self Esteem is a complex thing.

yes, it is quite annoying, i guess the best thing anyone can do is ignore them, self esteem requires alot of self respect and truely knowing who you are, and that you like yourself that way...that is what I think.

I felt like that in high school. Truth is, do you look at everyone and mock them in your head? Do you obsess over other people's appearance and judge them? Especially people you don't even know? Do you waste your time thinking about other people's flaws? Probably not, so don't worry, most others don't either. Truth is, these are the feelings you have about yourself and you are allowing yourself to believe everyone else is thinking that too. Trust me, those people have a lot else on their minds and some of them may be wondering if you are looking at them and mocking them!

Actually, thinking everyone else is looking at you and judging you is narcissistic, not a lack of self esteem. Other people are worried about themselves, not us. The way self esteem enters the picture is if one imagines the others thinking negative things. That's like a dream, coming from one's own head not anything "real".

I laugh at myself when I think others are thinking, looking, or talking about me. . . and then "change the subject" in my head, if only to start thinking about why I think/feel that and how such imaginings impact me. Am I looking for excitement? (think of something exciting to do) Am I looking for acclaim, for people to really look at/think about me? (think of something to do for someone else) Am I looking for connection with others? (think of a volunteer, hobby or other activity, something I have in common with someone else that I can work on and discuss with them), etc.

true true, but if you lack the self respect, it can very hard to think that way, most people can ignore thier own thoughts.

It really happens sometimes. I think we are just a bit paranoid sometimes because we feel conscious about ourself. But come to think of it. It just happens in our minds. Why would they mind the way you look, your dress, and everything about you? When they have their own problem to face to.

We need to be more confident with ourselves. Don't mind what the people would say about us, as long as we are confident of who we are. We should love ourselves first so that people will love us back.
