If I have good self esteem, will I automatically have confidence?
My self esteem is sliding again, always (or never had it), burdened with worry and I'm not sure I ever had confidence on retrospect. I just faked ![]() ![]() I don't need a new identity everytime I lack esteem, a coping mechanism I have adopted in the past in order to build confidence. I just need to remind myself of value or something. ( ![]()

IceStatue,
What you said has me thinking... I definitely think of myself as having more confidence than self esteem. I'm not sure why that is. That led me to thinking about what the definition of confidence is versus self esteem. I mean, I have confidence in my abilities to do good work in school, but at the same time my self esteem is low because I believe that there are others who do way better than me (Which is true, but for some reason it really brings me down... Dear Ben Folds, thank you for "There's Always Someone Cooler than You"). Anyways, then there's always my confidence in social situations... I know I can talk to people, and that I'm a social butterfly, and that people, generally, like me. But my low self esteem tells me that I'm awkward and easy to forget about. The whole issue has me really thinking... I guess, I really dont have any advice for you, cause now I"m just confused. Maybe do you wanna add more to what you said? Though, even then, I probably wont have any advice... Hope you're feeling better, Ro |
