My abuser (I've been safe for 2 months now) has been on the cover of our small town newspaper on and off for a couple of weeks now for a major accomplishment and I'm SO sick of it! Friends and relatives who don't know what happened will randomly call me up or stop me at the store and say wonderful things about him and the accomplishment to me. Grrr...
I don't really need any answers. I know it'll pass and I'll be talking to my T about it tomorrow. I just needed to vent. Thanks for hearing me out! |

This makes me angry just reading it! I hate it when these people get praise when you know they've done wrong. My grandma (this is a little different but a little similar) used to work with a lady, and one day everyone went to work only to find out that she had died, it turned out her husband drowned her in the bath. Well he's in jail now, and he's rather infamous in our city. One news show Today Tonight have actually made the efforts to get him OUT of jail on their program! And he does paintings and sells them, and his paintings were in the newspaper praising how good of an artist he is. My grandmother gets so upset about it, seeing this man who killed her friend and work colleague being praised and supported. In fact, he's even on wikipaedia!

Same for me - my parents are still considered pillars of the community, my father recently was a member of the school board where I grew up, they make monetary donations using my grandfathers $, they are regularly praised for all the good they do for the community...it makes me sick! Fortunately, I moved far away so it is not in my face everyday. I usually hear about it through the grapevine or when I do something stupid like google them or something (don't know why I do that, maybe hoping something terrible happened to them?!?!) It is so unfair...they are living their lives, on top of the world and I am stuck in this hell they sentenced me to. I am so sorry - I do understand!

I can see how that would be maddening to say the least. I bet you dream of calling that newspaper, letting them know who he really is behind that phony mask. He won't be able to hide on judgment day.
