Hell everyone!
I recently started seeing a therapist. I was just wondering if it psychoanalysis/psychodynamics is the "right" therapy for sexual abuse victims? I am feeling really down, and helpless. I feel like I will have a breakdown soon from all this thoughts and pain. I really want this to go away.... Thanks! |

So Sorry! The good news is this is going to get better. A T can absolutely help you, but if you want to know about yours in particular, ask what the process is going to be, so you can be prepared for your sessions. You will have pain as you face this trauma, but it will get less as you are able to let it go.
I wish you every good wish as you go forward with your healing in this... ![]()

there is a widely accepted thought that exposure to your fears lessens their impact, and eventually you will look back on the horrors as just another memory... of course that is not quick, and certainly not painless, but the more ways you find to gain acceptance that there was good in what YOU did, to survive, to learn, to become more aware,,,, the gifts that were hidden in the suffering, the easier it is to find peace...
best wishes Gus ![]()

The relationship with your therapist is what matters most - do they feel like the right fit for you?

I do feel he is right. I guess i am just not used to being listened to. Sometimes his silence makes me feel uncomfortable. the whole process is scary but I have no choice. I am fed up living like this and that's why I will do whatever it takes.

Work on these issues will take much courage and it sounds like you have that.
Wishing you healing and recovery. I am happy for you that you found this. Carol
