Hi, I'm having a intense week from a trigger caused by my new pdoc. I having flashbacks, can't eat, sleep, etc. I decided early this year to go have an annual gynecological exam since I haven't in about 5 years and I know u should go yearly.

My appt is first thing Monday morning. I'm started to freak out. It's probably the wrong time to go to have this exam since I had some triggers that caused flashbacks etc.

Can anyone give me advice how you get through these type of exams?

Thanks!

I just spoke to my doc and he said obgyn appts are recommended every five years so you are right on target. i myself am too traumatized to make it thru, but when it did go to my last one, i went to a doc i really trusted. i took klonopin before i went and i just used my powers of dissociation during the exam. if you are really doing poorly right now, i would wait until you have yourself stabilized rather than triggering yourself further. youre not too far off recommended schedule that you cant afford to wait a little longer. take care

I know this is just too late....but how did it go?

I think you should treat yourself with some cake piece or anything you love..something really really special....may be even shopping.....for undergoing it and coming out okay. Hopefully.....it would turn into a more positive experience the next test around.

hope it helps....
