I am grateful to PsychCentral main site for also talking about male victims of Domestic Violence.

I am in a long term relationship. There has never physical abuse, but I am completely dependent, very very very isolated, and very controlled.

I am interested in finding other men who have similar experiences.

Could anyone pm me? I want to keep the situation private.

Hotlines help women who are physically abused.

My main source of real help and support in the past has been from male friends in college. I am trying to find telephone friends.

Hope this reply works. Comgoing mental form pop up abuse!!
Sorry that just happened to coincide with my trying to use my tablet to reply which failed. I am running WIN XP still for a little while longer.

I have only just signed up myself to see what there is for help.

I am in an abusive relationship aswell. It is all very stealthily achieved and have only just discovered the term "Gas Lighting" .
For me it has not been obvious but a very slow growing problem that I did not understand. I strive to be an honest person and examine myself when in any situation to see if I could be the one at fault.

With I am faced with is more than just my relationship as there is a "group of people" that have now been affected by the actions of my wife and another person. I'm sure that comment speaks for itself. I do not wish to be straight out with what I am explaining yet.

I am savy when it comes to understanding and am a good listener.
I did learn in my early 20's about comunication and know that it is a vital ingredient to get through trauma. Yet it seems to be the 1 thing most people do there best to avoid or take advantage of it. I guess that makes sense seeing as those that wish to be controlling and manipulative realize the power of it.

It's not an easy road to be on.

I am sorry -- I know there are no resources either for a man abused by his wife or for an adult man controlled by his parents. They were never physically abusive, but they were and are controlling and made many decisions for me. I depend on them, and I do not know how to start a life on my own.

There's help for men, now listed on all the states dv sites. Safety plans aren't just for being physically abused. Verbal can turn physical over time.
